2016 startet mit einer Veranstaltung: am Donnerstag, 21.01.2016, kommen wir nach Nürnberg und bringen unser Projekt looking for wonderland mit: wir zeigen Bilder und unseren Film und lesen aus dem Buch. Los gehts um 19:00 Uhr im Bildungszentrum (Raum 3.11), am Gewerbemuseumsplatz 2.

Eingeladen hat uns das DAI, Deutsch-Amerikanisches Institut Nürnberg, das den Abend in Kooperation mit dem Bildungszentrum Nürnberg initiiert hat. Kommt vorbei, wir freuen uns darauf.

2016 kicks off with a wonderland event: Thursday, 01/21/16, we’ll be in Nürnberg, invited by the DAI, Deutsch Amerikanisches Institut, which organizes the evening in cooperation with the Bildungszentrum Nürnberg – there’ll be images and our film and we’ll be reading from the book.

We’ll start at 7pm in the Bildungszentrum (room 3.11) at the Gewerbeplatz 2. So come join us, we’re looking forward to seeing you there.

As 2015 is coming to an end we wanted to send out a heartfelt thank you to all people who supported us throughout this year, bought our books and images, visited us during exhibitions, festivals or on the world wide web.

We just came back from Photobook Week Arhus 2015 – and what a fabulous experience it was. Among all photo and photobook festivals the PWA founders have created something special, an event circulating around the photobook as an art object that feels like a gathering of friends. With a strong focus on interaction all the presentations have been more an exchange of ideas and arguments rather then „just“ presentations.

It was a great time of inspiration, thank you – and see you again next year!

Vergangenen Samstag hatten wir eine wunderbare Austellungseröffnung in der Galerie Erz in Skaerbaek an der dänischen Westküste. Mange tak – vielen herzlichen Dank an alle, die gekommen sind, das mit uns zu feiern. Vor allem auch an Else Pia Martinsen Erz, die uns eingeladen hatte, Teil Ihrer Herbstausstellung „Vadehavet / Wattenmeer“ zu werden.

Und falls Ihr nicht dabei sein konntet, die Ausstellung läuft noch bis zum 18. Oktober 2015, donnerstags bis sonntags, 10 – 17 Uhr, im Ribevej 13 (A11 – Richtung Romo), 6780 Skaerbaek, Dänemark.

We had a wonderful opening last Saturday at the Gallery Erz in Skaerbaek on the Danish Westcoast. Mange tak – thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us. But especially to Else Pia Martinsen Erz for the invitation to join her fall exhibition „Vadehavet / Wadden Sea“.

Die dänische Malerin und Galeristin Else Pia Martinsen Erz haben wir 2009 auf einer Ausstellung in Florenz kennengelernt, seitdem sind wir befreundet und verfolgen gegenseitig unsere Arbeiten. Nun ergab sich endlich die Gelegenheit für ein gemeinsames Projekt: Sie hat uns eingeladen, Teil ihrer Herbstausstellung Vadehavet / Wattenmeer zu werden.

Else Pia zeigt neue Bilder ihrer intensiven Auseinandersetzung mit dem Wattenmeer, wir stellen Bilder aus Andreas‘ Projekt wunderland über Heimat als gefühlten Ort aus – und sind gespannt, wie sich die Arbeiten ergänzen werden.

We met Danish painter and gallery owner Else Pia Martinsen Erz in 2009 in an exhibition in Florence, Italy, and we’ve been friends since following each others work. Finally this year an opportunity for a joint project came up: Else Pia invited us to participate in her fall exhibition Vadehavet / Wadden Sea.

She will show new works from her examination of life in the Wadden Sea and we will exhibit images from Andreas‘ wunderland project about „Heimat“, home, as an emotional place – we’re excited to see how the works will complement each other.

The first time I saw B.B.King live? I can’t even remember – his music has been a long time companion, not always visible, but always present. When he would come to town, I would be there. And then, in 2005, I had the chance to photograph one of his shows … unfortunately, it was the last of so many nights I saw him on stage. Now, the King is gone – but his music will stay.

Leute kommt nach Hamburg: kommendes Wochenende, 29. und 30. November, laden die Deutsche Fotografische Akademie und das Haus der Photographie zu einer Tagung in die Deichtorhallen in Hamburg ein. Es finden Präsentationen von Fotografinnen und Fotografen statt, eine Führung durch die aktuelle Ausstellung und ein Vortrag über Erzählungsstrategien in der Sprache der Fotografie.

Und am Samstag, 29.11.2014, ab 18:15 Uhr habt Ihr die Möglichkeit, im Rahmen eines Portfoliowalks unter anderem Tamar, where are you? anzuschauen – und mit mir darüber zu diskutieren. Ich freue mich sehr über die Einladung und die Möglichkeit, mein neues Projekt dort vorstellen zu können.

Time for a bit of PR: last week I had the opportunity to participate in a Photobook Masterclass organized by Lichtblick School at the newly opened PhotoBookMuseum in Cologne. Six photographers with their projects guided by five coaches, namely the photographers Frederic Lezmi, Thekla Ehling and Wolfgang Zurborn, graphic designer Okay Karadayilar and not to forget photobook wizard Markus Schaden.

Listen to the photographs – guided by Wolfgang’s credo my stack of photographs from a project about the country of Georgia was transformed via brainstorming, discussions and intense editing sessions including coaches and participants into a beautiful dummy for a new book.

So thanks to everyone involved – it was a great week and the perfect start for a new book adventure …

And while we’re at it … the PhotoBookMuseum is the perfect place to experience the magic and beauty of photobooks, a „walk-in photobook“ as one newspaper article put it, so be sure to stop by if you have the chance.
